iMapper to AutoCAD: Step-By-Step Guide

Step 1: Export data to file

Simply click on the Export button, select the DXF option and unit of measure you prefer working with. Point clouds, lines betwen the points, walls (that you can draw with the area tool) or iMapper positions can all be exported, you can choose to export them by ticking the relevant boxes.

You can export the point clouds under several layers if necessary (one layer per point cloud). To do this check the box “one layer per point cloud and area”.

Once you have all your settings right, simply click to export and your file will be saved in your downloads folder.

Step 2: Import files into AutoCAD and start drawing!

Every Software as different way to open or import dxf files

For Autocad : File > Open > File type dxf > Select and Open the desired .dxf file.

When the files is imported we advise you to lock the iMapper layers and creat new layers for your drawing. Then you can start to draw by following the points.

Note: When drawing an angle, focus on the point where two walls meet. It's important to note that there might not be an exact dot marking this corner.
